Well here it is - Smiley in the Sky! What an amazing sight it was. David and I had been working in the vegetable garden until around 6.30pm. Taking off my boots to go inside I caught sight of it - what a surprise it was. I ran in to get the camera - this shot was taken when there was still some light in the sky. While we were making dinner, I kept popping out to have a look at it and would burst out laughing each time! Venus which was the brightest star is to the left and Jupiter is on the right. I wonder what our ancestors would have made of that sign in the sky!
Oh that's great! I'm smiling now.

I saw it here tonight, too, but it's upside down. So the "smile" is "sad" and the eyes are below it.

our kids were quite enchanted, especially Catherine.
yes, you can understand the many anthropomorphisms that have dominated human history. Some of them still linger persistently.

That is brilliant. It's amazing what nature can do isn't it?
I'm into the stars and look at them very night, only in my back garden by the way, but that is great.

G'Day Annie! Thank you for popping into my blog. It's so lovely to see a new name - especially from someone so far away! Yes you're right, nature is amazing. Just working in the garden and watching the seasons coming and going amazes me - but when you look up at that sky you can't help thinking you are an insignificant dot in the scheme of things (thank God for Christmas!) It was such a 'human' setting for the planets and moon that I couldn't help but smile back.
