DAVID'S 60TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS

Sinead and me preparing for David's birthday lunch.  We ended up taking all the seat covers off again as we were still in the midst of half the desert blowing our way!  Thankfully, Sunday was clear although still quite windy.  We ended up making the decision to move the tables from the lawn to the covered area and it worked really well.  Will post some more photos over the coming days - although we are heading down to Canberra tomorrow - back Sunday night - so, perhaps it will be a few days before I'll be back on line.

David's 60 today.  This lovely photo was taken last month at Sandaig - the place where Gavin Maxwell of Ring of Bright Water fame used to live along with his pet otter Edal.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAVID

As Anton, Greer and the girls have been here this week and won't be here during the "official" birthday celebrations for David's 60th birthday, we had an early birthday celebration.  The weather was just perfect as was the day which included all the preparations for the lunch, the games afterwards which included the sack race, three legged race and a couple of games of boules.  As the day was coming to a close, Anton and Greer went for a walk up Yonder Lane while David, the girls and I careered around the property (over thistles) on the ATV.  It was a great day. 

Bon voyage dear Alblas family - we'll see you all in the not too distant future. 

21ST CENTURY

David has a computer!  His very first and he's lovin' it.  He's been "ripping" CD's (today it was Bob Dylan) and today he bought two fabulous speakers. In the photo, he's doing his daily "touch-typing" course.

He calls me from upstairs where I'm making a Christmas quilt, "Connie, it's not working!" 

He's doing amazingly well - I still don't know how to rip a CD!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

While we were up in Mackay, we celebrated David's 59th birthday.  Had morning tea at this little place near where Aaron and Janet live.  The cane was in the process of being cut - can't remember some of the terminology - loaded on to wee trucks and taken down to the mill.  When passing the mill, you could smell the sugar.  You can see some cane in the background of this photograph. 

 

This photo was taken at the back of the coffee shop which has a wonderful veggie garden.  The little railway carrying the cut cane seems to be absolutely everywhere and as we were having our morning tea, we heard it "passing through"!
